Le grand weekend de Pâques commence au Québec et nous partons profiter du joli cadeau du Papa Noël de Kerhinet: un beau weekend à New York!!!! 4h du matin, nous voilà partis et c'est une heure plus tard que nous arrivons devant les portes des États Unis où la plus grosse épreuve de notre voyage nous attend: les douanes!
Première étape: à la guérite, on nous mitraille de questions. Pas le droit aux doutes! Où habitez vous? Que faites vous dans la vie? Est ce bien votre véhicule? Où habitez vous? (ils nous répètent les questions pour être bien sûr qu'on leur répond la même chose à chaque fois).
Deuxième étape: on nous demande de nous garer, de donner les clés à un douanier et d'aller attendre dans les bureaux pour obtenir notre petit billet vert et notre tampon dans notre passeport!!! Encore quelques questions au passage puis finalement après une petite heure, on était bon pour passer!!! On reprend la route...
6h plus tard, nous voilà aux frontières de la Grosse Pomme!
Après avoir trouvé notre hôtel, nous somme partis à la découverte de cette grande ville...
Pour vous situer un peu pour la suite:
Nous avons décidé de commencer par la pointe Sud de l'île. Nous sommes arrivés au site du Ground Zero, l'emplacement du World Trade Center où ils sont en train de construire le mémorial et un nouveau complexe avec une grande tour centrale, la One World Trade Center.
Nous sommes ensuite allés dans le quartier de Tribeca, puis nous avons longé la rivière Hudson en direction de Battery Park.
Arrivés à Battery Park, nous avons pris un ferry pour aller voir la Statue de la Liberté et faire un tour sur l'Hudson River d'où nous avions une super vue sur Manhattan... On est passé sous le Brooklyn Bridge et on a eu notre premier aperçu de l'Empire State Building et du Chrysler Building!

Revenus à quai, nous avons remonté l'avenue Broadway à pied puis en métro jusqu'au mythique Times Square en faisant escales dans quelques magasins ...
Après cette première journée, nous avons repris le chemin de l'hôtel où nous nous sommes écroulés pour mieux démarrer notre journée à suivre...

The big Easter weekend is about to begin in Quebec and we are going to New York city!!!
We left Montréal at 4 am and one hour later, we were at the door of the United States where the biggest test was waiting for us: customs! First step: we had to answer to a serie of questions like Where are you living? Why are you coming to the US? Where will you be staying? What are you doing as a job? Are you the owner of this vehicle? And no place for mistakes! Second step: they asked us to park our car, give them the keys and go wait in the offices to have our passeports checked out and stamped! A few more questions, just in case we changed our responses, and an hour later, we were free to cross the border! Back on the road...
6h later, we were on the verge of walking our first steps on the Big Apple sidewalks! Once we found our hotel, we went straight into the heart of the city...
We decided to start with the South of Manhattan. We arrived on the site of the Ground Zero, where there was the World Trade Center. They are now building a memorial and a new place with a big central tower, the One World Trade Center.
From there, we walked to Tribeca and we went along the Hudson river to Battery Park.
We took a boat to see the Statue of Liberty and have a better view of Manhattan... We went under the Brooklyn Bridge and we had our first glimpse of the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building!
After our river trip, we walked Brodway avenue all the way to the mythical Times Square, with a few stops in some famous shops of course...
At the end of our first day, we walked back to our hotel where we fell into a deep coma...
